What you'll do
This advanced lei making experience begins with harvesting and preparing local Hawaiian flowers and Ti leaves in a pono way. Next, you will learn about the Ti leaf plant's many uses in hula and then make a Ti Leaf lei. We will then make a another lei which will be created from flowers from my garden (plumeria, puakenikeni, stephanotis, tiare, bougainvilla, pikake, crown flower, etc.). Finally you will learn how to make simple flower hairpieces. I also offer a beginner class for those wishing to learn the art of lei making.

Aloha, I am a Hula/Tahitian Dancer. I have lived on the North Shore of Oahu for over 15 years and my daughters and I all perform locally, (Waimea Valley, Turtle Bay Resorts, etc.). I have a lot of experience making lei, lei haku, lei po'o, Tahitian hip hei, Ti leaf skirts, coconut palm baskets, and about anything to do with hula and the Hawaiian tradition of using flowers and feathers as adornments. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge to others young and old.
Where you'll be
You will be visiting one of the most famous beaches/surf breaks in the world. Located in the Backyard's neighborhood, I will meet you across the street from Ted's Bakery at the bus stop, (parking available on the road makai side, (towards the ocean). We will then walk to my house to create your lei.
