What you'll do
Digbeth is the creative hub of Birmingham, recently deemed the city's coolest neighbourhood by the Sunday Times, the formerly industrialised hub is now home to digital natives, ruin bars and street food pop-ups but what really defines the area - the incredible murals and street art that adorns every corner. Artists from around the world visit the area and now it will be your chance to see the incredible art. Together, we will take a walking tour of the area, stopping along the way to see the best pieces of art at a leisurely pace with ample opportunity to take incredible photos. Starting on one side of Digbeth, we will navigate the streets, canals and alleyways, stopping along the way to discuss the street art and artists that did them. We will discuss the history of Digbeth, street art rules and the increase in advertising and the effect it has all had on the area. You will then have the opportunity to spray paint your own tag and leave your mark on Birmingham. Finally, we will end at The Custard Factory where I cover the cost of entry at The Digbeth Dining Club to eat some incredible food whilst you rest and recuperate. I will also signpost other areas of Birmingham to see fine art. The walk is around two miles and will last around two hours (maybe longer) so comfortable shoes are a must. Birmingham is quite a rainy city so be sure to dress weather appropriate
I'm Kash, a music and art lover and worked in Digbeth for a number of years and grew up a short walk away. Whilst working there, I came across a number of streets, alleyways, canals and abandoned warehouses full of incredible graffiti. Whilst exploring the area, I really developed a passion for graffiti art and always look to seek out street art whenever I travel abroad. As a Superhost, I always tell guests to explore the area but they struggle to navigate the area and see all the amazing art and understand the meaning behind it. Fortunately, I am familiar with the artists and meaning behind the art so that I can explain what each of the pieces mean.
Ill provide a bottle of water for each guest, just as there is a lot of walking involved so it is important to stay hydrated…
