What you'll do

I will show you around town to see the photographic spots, but how we go about it exactly depends on you! I work in small groups so I can assist more and adapt to your skills and desires. Depending on your photographic skills we might linger in certain locations or go around a bit faster. I can help you with some technical details or give tips on the actual shooting. We will definitely stop at the top touristy locations, but I can also add less known spots! I am there to help you as a professional photographer, and I am all excited to share the beauty of my city with both amateur and professional photographers! It will be a full 2 hours of photographing!
Contact me if you would like to have a tour on other dates or times then the ones mentioned.
Every photographer can bring one non-photographer for free on the tour. As long as he/she does not mind waiting until the good photo is made by the photographers. The non photographer is allowed to shoot with his phone though.

I am a professional fine art photographer, specialised in city photography. I travel the world in search of good spots in cities. Cities (in general) and Gent (in particular), and photography are my biggest passions which I would love to share with you!
I am originally from beautiful medeaval Gent, and I know all the interesting photographic spots. I can help you, not only find the best spots, but I can also assist you in taking good or even better photos then you would normally do! Wether you are an amateur or a professional, it does not matter, all you need to be is passionate about taking the right shot and we can find a match!

Where you'll be

Of course we will see the legendary 3 towers, icons of the city, from the Sint-Michielsbrug, the Graslei and the Korenlei, but we will also shoot the Krook, Begijnhof (beguinage), some (perfectly safe) back alleys, the Vrijdagsmarkt and a lot more!

Katti was very friendly and I felt comfortable with her right away! She showed me some less-touristy spots for photo opportunities, also shared tips on how to find unique compositions and angles so they are my own. Really enjoyed my time with her!

Katti was a wonderful guide through Ghent. We were in a group of two photographers and two non. Katti took us to some amazing photo spots (that weren't the standard tourist spots) and helped us get some amazing pictures. She definitely has an eye for framing and knows her way around any camera. The photographers were extremely happy with their results and learned a lot too! The tour was special for me, as I proposed to my girlfriend while on the tour. Katti helped me pick a very picturesque spot to propose which was awesome!

It was an overall good experience. Katti is like your own friend showing you around Ghent sharing with me the history of the city and her own experiences. She took me to hidden alley and out of the touristy center which was great. But having signed up for a photography experience in Ghent I do hope to learn more photography skills which was not really the case. It was more like a walking tour of Ghent.

What a lovely way to spend 3 hours. I really got an insight into not just current Belgium but also the history and many influences on Flanders. In fact it’s something I noticed about all the people I met in my slightly less than 24 hours in Ghent: the people here know their history and are proud of it! I really didn’t have a chance to research as I would have liked and Katti filled in a lot of gaps for me, gave me lots of background information, even discussed some of the current issues about city zoning and urban planning and how that might impact the town centre. Obviously a love of photography helped but so too did common ground in the arts, music, gender equality, a lively exchange on climate control and world politics. She has a keen understanding of geopolitical forces and it was good to explore that as well. We covered a lot of ground on foot and a wide range of topics. Also Katti is patient and too polite to even mention it, but I was running late due an unforeseen circumstance at my place, texted that I’d be running late and arrived even 10” after that, but we met and set off with aplomb, just a gracious acknowledgment then off we went! Again, a worthwhile morning that has left me anticipating my return to the area!

A photo walk with Katti is not to be missed if you want to come away with some special photos of Ghent that are more individual than the usual picture postcard shots.Katti chose excellent locations that we would have been unlikely to discover on our own and where there were fewer tourists. She is also able to explain clearly and patiently how to choose the right camera settings to create different effects and we felt we had improved our photographic skills after only a few hours. This experience is to be highly recommended and very good value.

I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with Katti, it was like meeting up with a friend, she’s relaxed, warm, interesting and engaging. She’s a great teacher and has vast knowledge of street photography and Gent. I learned a great deal about my camera and photography and Katti was genuinely interested in developing my skills, and generous with her time. I HIGHLY recommend this event a great way to see the city especially off the beaten track
