What you'll do

Our brewery tour experience is led by a tour guide who has worked at the two top attractions in Ireland: the Guinness Storehouse and Kilmainham Gaol.
The first part of the tour is the story of Rascals Brewing Company. Visitors will be told how the founders – a husband and wife team – took inspiration from the craft beer scene on a visit to New Zealand and decided to give up their day jobs and pursue a dream of setting up a brewery in Dublin.
Visitors are then brought through the brewery floor up to a mezzanine where the tour of the brewing facilities begins. The first port of call is the Malt Room, in which guests can grab a handful of malted barley and taste the different flavours.
Next they are guided through the brewing vessels in the brewhouse. At all times we engage the senses of our visitors. We ask them to smell and feel the hops used in our beer production. We have art installations throughout the tour offering representations of what happens at during brewing.
The tour concludes with a generous serving of Rascals finest beer as well as flatbread from our wood-fired pizza oven. Our tour guide describes the different beer styles, the tasting notes, and answers questions.

My name is Joe Donnelly and I'm the marketing manager for Rascals Brewing Company: the only authentic craft beer taproom and pizza restaurant in Dublin city. I'm responsible for the design and implementation of our brewery tour experience, working with highly qualified passionate brewers and an experienced, dedicated tour guide. I've worked in tourism (inbound cultural programmes for USIT Travel) and the craft beer industry both as a full-time job and also as a hobby.
I co-host and work with our tour guide, Lorien Ennis, who has previously worked at Kilmaniham Gaol and The Guinness Storehouse: two of the most visited tourist attractions in all of Ireland. She has a wealth of experience and knowledge in tour guiding, local history and brewing in Ireland.
Our tour experience has been running since February 2019.

Where you'll be

The brewery tour takes place in Rascals Brewing Company, a brand new visitor experience, taproom and pizza restaurant. In 2018 we converted an old industrial unit into a totally unique brewery and tour centre. Historic Dublin is on our doorstep, including Kilmainham Gaol and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

We had a really great experience! Would definitely recommend. Did both this and the Guinness Tour and felt that this was way more personlised.

It was a nice interesting short tour of the brewery. After that, there were four different types of beer that were explained and could be tasted. Delicious pizza bread with pesto served. The founder of the brewery gave us the lead, he was really nice and gave us some good tips.

The place was a bit far away from the city centre but accessible by tram. The host was friendly and helpful. My friends and I enjoyed the tour and the beer so much, would definitely recommend it!

Even though the Brewery is a bit out of the way for someone who is staying at the most touristic part of the city, the tram stops quite close and it's nice to get out of the usual beaten tours. Lorien was quite friendly and knowledgeable and I enjoyed the tour and the tastings quite a bit. The Brewery itself is pretty cool also, nice decor and atmosphere. I highly recommend the experience.
