What you'll do
Just Named One of the Top 25 Coolest Neighborhoods in the World! We will show you why this district earned such a prestigious award. We'll meet up in East Austin off Cesar Chavez, one of the edgiest neighborhoods in town, and set out on a colorful walk (1.2 miles) full of murals, street art, and local art history! Together, we'll explore one of Austin's largest concentrations of public art. You'll see works by world-famous artists such as Meres1, JonOne, and Blek le Rat (the French street artist who inspired Banksy), and hear real stories about the underground art scene in Austin! This well-curated tour focuses on the guides sharing their knowledge and passion of the artists and artwork. Whether you're looking for great photo ops, art history, or the inside scoop on local living in Austin, this art walk will touch on all of these subjects. By the end of the walk, we guarantee you'll know more about Austin's public art than most local residents, and you'll never look at murals, street art, or graffiti the same way again.
Douglas And Eileen
Douglas grew up in the Santa Fe art scene and managed a rockin' contemporary art gallery. He started his art career on the walls of his grandparent's home while visiting as a child. He is pretty sure his grandparents would be proud of his tour. Eileen is a mosaic junky and has been working with ceramic mosaics for 15 years. While managing a large painting company she was asked to paint murals and do stenciling off 20 feet of scaffolding. This experience gives her the appreciation and passion to share Austin's cool art scene with others.
