What you'll do

French Pastry workshop:
If you’ve always thought that making pastries was a job for the professionals, let me tell you it’s not. This fun, hands-on 2h30 hours class will teach you in easy steps how to bake the perfect pastry, with no soggy bottoms in sight!
In this class you will learn how to make:
The perfect sweet shortcrust
A chocolate ganache,
A creme patissière
A frangipane
Using these techniques you will then create your own gourmet mini tarts that you’ll be able to take home with you in a presentation box.
This class is hands-on, it is not a demonstration, you get to make your own sweet shortcrust pastry and fillings. As the maximum number of guests is 5, this is a really bespoke and personalised experience.

I was born on the island of Réunion, a small French colony off the coast of Madagascar. Although my parents moved to the South of France when I was very small, the spirit of the island was very much alive in our home, and especially in our kitchen.
My culinary heritage was key in setting-up my first business Gourmandises in 2011. Gourmandises, specializes in traditional French patisserie and was recognised in the 2014 Great Taste Awards. My signature passion fruit tart got a top three gold star rating; an accolade awarded to just 150 of the 10 000 products entered each year.
But one bit was missing: sharing the passion. This is why in August last year, I decided to share my skills and my passion by opening my home kitchen to the public, through Gourmandises Academie, teaching mainly patisserie and hosting a supper club on Reunion cuisine

Where you'll be

These experiences take place at my home, with beautiful views of the Cambridgeshire countryside. Depending on the time of year, some of the products used in the workshops will come from my vegetable garden. When weather permits, we will be able to eat in the garden and enjoy the views.

Things to know

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

Guest requirements

Up to 5 guests ages 16 and up can attend.

Material, equipment and ingredients are provided for the workshops, including an apron. For the taste of Reunion cuisine, I don't provide alcohol, only the meal.
