What you'll do

We visit local microbreweries and taprooms along a stretch of railway arches where the city's craft brewing scene began. Along the way, I'll tell you a bit about the history of this unique part of London, as well as the city's rich beer culture and history (porter and IPA were invented here!).

This is a gentle walking tour that starts at a tube station and takes in several taprooms and microbreweries. Small samplers are included with the tour – I make recommendations for what you might like to try, talking you through each brewery's strengths, seasonal beers and suggestions based on your personal taste.

My tour is for beer nerds and non-beer drinkers alike. Everyone is welcome and I make sure to create an inclusive atmosphere. If someone in your party doesn't like or is unable to drink beer, there are alternatives and non-alcoholic drinks available at each stop. I also throw in some nibbles! Transport is by public transport (the tube) and on foot.

As a beer and travel journalist (mostly for Lonely Planet), I've travelled and lived all over the world (I grew up in the southwest USA, also lived in China, Ireland and Prague). London has been my home for 8 years and I've been doing the "hard work" of learning the beer scene here inside and out so I can really get you to the best spots that no one else knows about. I'm also a Cicerone-certified Beer Server, so I'll make sure that you not only experience the most top-notch breweries and pubs, but I'll make recommendations about what you might like to try while we're there, and talk you through a little about the beer and its connection to this wonderful city.

It was really nice time with a wonderful woman. She is considerate, funny and kind. If you are beer lover (and it is first time that you visit London) I highly recommend this trip. You can easily make a good friend in London.

Megan is kind, welcoming and super knowledgeable, and this tour along the Bermondsey Beer Mile was fantastic! She gave us a good history of the area, as well as stories behind the beers we drank and the breweries that made them. All of her suggestions were top notch, and it was a really fun evening out. Highly recommend!

We had a great tour with Megan. She clearly knows her stuff and introduced us to some of the intricacies of Pale Ale, Double Dry Hopped Pale Ale and much more. She helped us refine our beer tasting skills and selected some special but fitting ones. We visited a couple of nice breweries and would recommend Megan as your guide.
