What you'll do
We'll meet at our farm for an initial introduction. Next we'll walk the grounds and explain the relationship between nature and bees, underlining their importance to the eco system. Then, we'll take you through the equipment needed to practise bee keeping, the main events in the beekeeping year, how we manage the swarming season and extract the golden honey. We'll visit one or two of our apiary sites in the locality, and if weather permits we may open a hive to let you see what the inside of a bee colony looks like. Afterwards, we'll return to the farm and try some honey tasting to help you understand the different types of honey available. A relaxing experience enjoying nature and gaining an appreciation of these beautiful, selfless animals.

I am a 37 year old man who spends his weekends with his family enjoying the countryside and farming life. My summers are spent bee farming with long days spent at different apiary sites, working with my bees. The result is tasty and wholesome honey, which I sell to a large local estate. I've been learning about bees since 2009 and love to share my thoughts and experiences on my passion.

Where you'll be
We're based at a small farm outside Midhurst, set under the South Downs. A former fruit farm, with extensive orchard and woodland, it is a beautiful setting for beekeeping and growing natural food. We will walk through local heath and woodland, plus visit another of our local apiary sites set on the South Downs, with fantastic views and beautiful countryside.
