Whether you enjoy this experience or not is entirely dependent on whether you enjoy the company with you, cause it’s not all about walking and touring places but also about sharing stories and having conversations.
I’m really happy to have met Aom as my guide! He was kind, thoughtful, shared his stories and listened to mine, and generally made sure I was comfortable throughout. He was also mindful of my boundaries. When I said I don’t want my pictures taken (which is a bit unusual for a tourist here, I guess), he respectfully left it at that and continued explaining what we were seeing and the cultural significance of it.
We were lucky to have good weather and the lake was beautiful allowing us to just eat, talk, feed some food to the fish in the lake and enjoy the peace. The temple was beautiful and Aum was knowledgeable enough to explain many of the symbolisms behind the art. He narrated some of the mythical stories and where they originated from, which gave the trip a nice charm.
For people who want to get out of the city buzz and have a bit of relaxation and peace, this is a good choice!
