What you'll do

If you don’t see a time that works for your group, just send me a message. I will do my best to accommodate! We will meet up at a unique downtown coffee shop, from there we will explore a two mile loop of downtown. We will take it easy with plenty of stops to rest as I share some Asheville history, fun facts and great shopping and dining recommendations. We will see the new Asheville art museum, historic Pack Square, quaint Lexington Ave and Wall Street as well as the Basilica of St. Lawrence. On our tour we will almost certainly be entertained by street artists and performers as we follow parts of the Asheville Urban Trail. This is a great way to get the “lay of the land” at the beginning of your trip to Asheville and hear about the best restaurants and breweries to visit on your stay. I love my city and I take every opportunity to be a tourist in my own town. Wether you want to hear about the best places to eat or drink, or if you are hoping to move here and want advice on schools and housing, let a local show you around. This is the best way to make the most of your short time in Asheville. Our tour can be modified to meet the needs of your group.

Allison is & Peter are longtime Ashevillians who love their city and know it and the surrounding mountains of western North Carolina with particular intimacy. Peter works in land conservation designing and building sustainable trails on protected lands among WNC's mountains. He is one of the most experienced outdoor explorers of the region, having hiked more than 7,000 miles of trails and summited more than 1,700 peaks. He is also the author of the guidebook Hiking North Carolina's Lookout Towers. Allison is an 4th grade teacher who spends all of her free time outdoors, having hiked 400 peaks and 1,000 miles of trail herself, but is just as comfortable shopping boutique stores and bookshops downtown and sampling local craft beer. We enjoy meeting people and are passionate about sharing our love of WNC & the beautiful city of Asheville!

Where you'll be

We’ll begin our tour at one of Asheville’s most memorable coffee shops, then proceed to the center of the city to hear about the history and architecture of Asheville. From there we will travel through the main streets of downtown as I point out great locally owned business, exciting places to hear local musicians and of course places to grab a local brew. We will loop around to arrive back at our starting point taking approximately two hours.
