What you'll do

We offer a guided tour of the Reserve of the “Giants of the Sila” - a monumental woodland and a living testimony of the ancient Silan forest, preserving over 60 specimens of 350 years old larch pine trees and mountain maples that are almost 45 meters in height, with trunks 2 metres wide. In this extraordinary biogenetic reserve, which is now part of the Sila National Park, human intervention has the sole purpose of allowing nature to take its course. The tour can be in English, Italian and French and lasts 1 hour minimum.

About the organisation: FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano

Since 1975, FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano, The National Trust for Italy, restores and takes care of special places in Italy so that present and future generations from all over the world may enjoy a priceless legacy. We directly manage and take care of 37 special places in Italy and we support with our volunteer network other 20 places in all Italy regions.

Where you'll be

We will walk along a path of 1 km inside the reserve. We will stop to observe the monumental trees and the local fauna. We are famous for the southern squirrel - a little black funny squirrel - and many other little inhabitants of the wood.

This was a great tour, we were late but she kindly accommodated us regardless, also, the restaurant next to the entrance was the best meal we had in Italy and we are foodies, it doesn’t look impressive but it was incredible.

Esperienza molto consigliata.
