What you'll do

¡Hola! I am Glenda and I will guide you into this lovely cycling adventure!

The main idea is to ride until we reach beautiful coastal landscapes. You will see a panoramic view of Puerto Madryn city and to the southern area. We also take a relaxing time between the ride, stop as many times we need, take pictures, breathe fresh air, stretch our body, chat and just contemplate the view and the wildlife.

MEET POINT:
For this trip, we will need a bike so we are going to meet at Napra Club (Bajada 1) to pick up our bikes and start the trip! The bike rental is included already with your payment experience.

WHERE WE GO:
Southern area (Punta Cuevas, PuntaPunta Este, Playa Paraná, and Punta Loma). The total distance is about 25-30km throughout steppe trails and dirt roads.

Across our riding, we are going to stop many times to watch birds, drink water and take pictures. Besides, I'm going to talk about Patagonian wildlife and make an interpretation of this particular and beautiful ecosystem. (If this might not be suitable for you, we can ride less, like until reach playa Paraná, about 6km from the city).

Let's go-to move the body enjoying nature! :D

PS. If the bike is no option for you, we can manage to go in my car for an extra fee
Please, just let me know in a message!

I am a wildlife biologist with a focus on avian ecology. I'm studying birds since my early twenties when I lived in Colombia in 2007-2008. Currently, I am an advanced doctoral student studying shorebirds.

I love to be into nature and coastal landscapes to appreciate its biodiversity. I like to share wildlife spots with travelers and show them natural places where we can find birds and other animals and plants.

Birdwatching is a natural and low impact activity for the environment and involves a huge dimension of consciousness about how we can protect birds but also wildlife in general throughout citizen science.

Glenda was great guide and interesting person to get to know! I am a birder from the US and she took me around to see some new species. I loved seeing the Two-banded Plovers, the species of plovers she studies for her PhD in Puerto Madryn. We also went to a colony of Imperial and Magellanic Cormorants. The best surprise was aShort-eared Owl I flushed when I got out to see an Elegant-crested Tinamou that crossed the road. Photos are on my eBird checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S65585438

My wife and I went on the tour led by Glenda. For a small extra fee she offered to take us by car, which I’m glad we did because it was very hot and windy that day. There are also some steep hills that we novice cyclers would have struggled with. Glenda was really great! She is pursuing her PhD and writing her dissertation on a local bird species so in addition to wildlife spotting with an expert we got to see some of her field research first hand. Very interesting tour with a true expert. I would recommend this experience!

Like most people, I came to Patagonia to experience the wildlife. Glenda Denise is an expert in shorebirds. She showed me birds that I would not have noticed, helped identify everything we saw, and showed me some special things, including several nests. This is a much more personal way to see wildlife than signing up with a big tour company. I really enjoyed myself. I would recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in biology or birds.

Glenda was wonderful. She showed me the coastal wildlife, the sea lions, various species of seagulls, cormorants, ducks, petrels, and. We even got to identify and locate a chorlito (dotterel) and its nest with eggs, which is what she's doing research on right now. It looked like a rock. I wouldn't have been able to spot it myself. A lovely experience. Plus I learned how to make mate and had great conversation. Thanks, Glen!
