About your host

I have lived on Lummi Island for years. I've hiked and biked every mile of the island and have taken my boat throughout the San Juan and Gulf Islands. I was involved in building some of the great trails on the island, and have bushwacked on other areas of the island to reach secluded beaches, viewpoints of the San Juan archipelago, and incredible beauty that few people know of. My experience…

What we’ll do

I will meet participants coming of the Lummi Island ferry. After a brief walk on the quiet roads of Lummi, we will branch off the road and link to a network of trails that will take participants through land reserves, deep forests, open meadows, views to Mt. Baker and the north Samish Sea, and the coastline. After a break for refreshments on the deck of my home, we will cross to the southeast…

What else you should know

Lummi Island is great to hike all throughout the year. If rainy, the forest canopy lightens the rainfall and creates a beautiful mist. If hikers wish to stay overnight, I provide rooms and dinner and breakfast in my house for an additional cost.

What I’ll provide

Snacks and Appetizers
Olives, cheese and crackers, chips and vegetables with dip.
Juice, Soft drinks and Water
Fruit juice, sodas and water

What to bring

Good hiking shoes. Layered clothing and windbreaker based on weather forecast

Where you'll be

Lummi has a network of trails only known by locals. Most were made by Lummi hikers looking for a secluded place. We will skirt the Curry preserve and link to the trails that go to incredibly scenic places. We will take a break at my house in the woods and then hike to the top of Baker Mountain (not be confused with the mainland's Mt. Baker). Throughout participants will learn about the history of the island and the landscape.
