The volunteering experience was a great way to get to know the Raphael Center and the reality of homeless families in San Francisco. Great experience both for San Franciscans and visitors. Kellen gave us a tour of the center before putting us to work in the kitchen and we finished with an interesting discussion with the center director.

Volunteering at Raphael House was a great experience. Our host Kellen was both welcoming and informative during the tour portion, and she made sure we were okay while cooking for the residents. Nate, the in-house chef, was very patient and kind while teaching us how to prepare the food, and the Director Ralph sat us down during dinner for some wonderful and insightful conversation. All in all, everyone really added to the experience, and we learned a ton. It was really nice to be able to interact and interface with the residents, and we found that they some of them were open to conversation with us, so it made for a really rewarding experience! I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone in or around SF looking for something meaningful to get involved with! It will teach you a lot about the homelessness in the area, and it's eye-opening!

I had a fantastic experience at Raphael House. Whether you are longtime SF resident or a visitor, you'll love learning about this unique, compassionate nonprofit that is fully funded by the community. During the tour I was inspired to learn more about the nonprofit's philosophy. Cooking with the chef and other guests was a fun way to roll up our sleeves, but the highlight was serving dinner to the residents and sharing warm hospitality with them. Finally, I really enjoyed connecting with other guests during the wrap-up at the end. Thank you Raphael House!

I really enjoyed learning more about this extraordinary organization working with families to break the horrible homeless cycle that has plagued so many Bay Area residents. I also enjoyed the group of volunteers and especially Chef Phil! He made the afternoon so enjoyable, and his food is soul satisfying. Overall - fantastic and I would love to do this again!

Raphael House is not your average shelter. Privately funded, feels like a condominium really. The whole experience was relaxing for me, with none of the usual "emotions" when you see the down-and-out. I am very happy and proud that I decided to go. If I have the chance to go again, I will. Thank you!

This was a great experience! As an Airbnb employee, I've been a part of many experiences. But this is one experience I also had the feeling of directly contributing to the people of the Bay Area. We received a wonderful tour of the Home, and then we worked in the kitchen to prepare dinner for that night. We sliced apples for apple pie, chopped broccoli, and also set the table for the families living here. It was wonderful to see the children. We served dinner and everyone is encouraged to eat together. The children sang Christmas carols. ...In that moment I forgot that I was on an "Airbnb Experience Trip". I didn't feel like a visitor, but rather as someone that can really make a difference to the city, but more importantly to the people I met that night. Kellen was an excellent host. She showed us around and very excitedly gave us the history and 2017 plans of the Home.
