What you'll do

Learn about city beehives and taste sweet honey

We'll discover hidden green spaces where bees are living amid tower blocks and concrete. We'll visit bee hives tucked away from the gaze of city dwellers, where we'll learn about honeybees and many other bees that have made London their home. We'll have a chance to help the bees by planting bee-friendly flower seeds. And we'll taste delicious honeys from a variety of hives across the capital.

Where you'll be

We'll walk over the canal to Granary Square and through new public spaces and gardens that have been created for people and wildlife to show how a new development can provide year-round food to feed the bees. We'll finish our bee spotting at the Skip Garden, an upcycled kitchen garden and cafe on the edge of the King's Cross development where fruit and vegetables are grown in skips and are pollinated by on-site bees who also make honey.

What can I say; Alisons depth of knowledge is amazing, she has an excellent delivery style. Despite the fact that we had a rainy day and we saw no bees, the event was brilliant. I thoroughly recomend this insightful and informative event. Thanks Alison. xx Keith

Alison was a really lovely and knowledgeable host and made this experience one not to miss! I'd been curious about bees and honey for awhile and found the tour and discussion points fun, fascinating and engaging. It was also a really nice walk and a day out seeing London in an unusual way. Would definitely recommend!

Fascinating walk around one of Europe's most interesting city developments with Alison who knows pretty much everything about bees and the flowers that they love and need. A really perfect way to spend half a day. Left feeling inspired and ready to plant to help support all sorts of bees.

Alison is truly knowledgable about bees. She loves nature and is a bee keeper herself, endeavouring to reserve London natural surroundings. If you are interested in bee hives and keen exploring around Kings cross, this is a perfect trip to enjoy.

Alison has an easy relaxed style and it was lovely to spend a morning in her company thinking about nature in the city. I gained a lot of interesting information on bees and an appreciation of the hard work behind every jar of delicious honey. I hope her good work continues, so that people are made aware of ecology and the urban environment, and the vital role bees and bee-keeping play.
