My husband and I were looking for an authentic opportunity to explore Berber culture (i.e., not a "touristy" trek on a camel) with a local -- and Rachid more than surpassed our expectations. We drove beyond the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and into the Ghighaya valley to Tahnaout to meet with a wonderful local woman (Mrs. Fatima) who made us bread and mint tea. She made my husband and I feel welcome in her home. Next, Rachid took us to a local market, then to the women-run Argan oil co-operative. The best part was the time we spent with Rachid in his home with his wife, kids, and mother, eating a homemade meal with ingredients fresh from the land. He taught us about Berber culture (a culture we knew very little about), including the history and language. After lunch, we went for a nature walk through the stunning landscape and got to take some pretty incredible photos. Rachid is warm, welcoming, knowledgable, funny, and the best host we've ever had. We spent five days in Morocco, explored quite a bit of Tangier and Marrakech, but our experience with Rachid was the highlight of our trip -- truly a one-in-a-lifetime, unforgettable experience. Book with Rachid if you want to experience something truly unique.
