What you'll do
For a city of 24 million people, the number of micorbreweries in Shanghai is only a dozen. Craft beer is in the early beginning with Chinese consumers still confused between comercial lagger and crafted ale. You'll visit 3 local brewing tap rooms in Sinan Mansions, a set of private villas dating back to the 1920s and Xintiandi area known for the stone-gate houses(shikumeng). As you stroll through Shanghai’s Old City, you’ll get an intimate glimpse of the residences and alleyways in traditional neighborhoods. Your host will treat you delicious Shanghai-style dumplings such as potstickers and introduce you to the best craft beer along with local rice wine. You will end at a rooftop bar overlooking the skyline of this city. This experience is also focused on the trendiest taste of Chinese middle class with an introduction of the fastchanging Food& beverage industry.
As a native of Shanghai, I am passionate about introducing my city to people who are curious about Shanghai’s authentic local cuisine. I believe the best way to explore a city is by heading to where all the locals eat: the mom-and-pop restaurants and hole-in-the-wall joints. My co-host Lu is a big craft beer geek and a musician playing at former French Concession at night. He's originated from Shangri-La and lives in Shanghai for almost 10 years. Other experiences we offer: Authentic tea and dessert tour; Authentic local food tour. Instagram:shanghaifoodietours
