Rainy day in Kanazawa ☔️
Today I had a wonderful guided walk through the beautiful Higashi Chaya District with Yuri.
She kindly explained the history and culture in both English and Japanese so I could understand easily while also practicing my English.
We first visited Kuboichi Ototsurugi Shrine, where the famous writer Izumi Kyōka used to play as a child. Yuri also showed me the mysterious Kuragarizaka slope that quietly leads toward the old geisha district.
As we walked through the historic streets, I learned many fascinating details — from the photo viewpoints around the district to the tradition of displaying corn during the Shimanrokusen-nichi festival for good business fortune.
The golden storehouse seen from Hakuza Hikari-gura was shining beautifully, and the Edo-period townscape is still perfectly preserved today.
