What you'll do
We'll contact you 24 hours in advance (or when you book) and confirm the meeting point for the day's paddle. It will vary depending on wind, weather and tide conditions - one of the unique features of the Cape peninsular is the variety of conditions available in a small geographic area so we can choose the best route accordingly. The route between Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay harbour is one option - an easy beach launch, kelp forests, birds (and often dolphins), a picturesque harbour and great coffee! Another is the stretch of coast between Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles - awesome views of the Table Mountain National Park, seal colonies and great marine life. Hout Bay is another lovely paddle with spectacular views of the iconic Chapmans Peak as well as great fish & chips in a working harbour afterwards. And finally, the ocean around Simons Town offers great coastal paddling and penguins! We'll meet at the chosen spot, get kitted up into our paddling gear (we provide the kayaks, paddles and flotation devices) and give you a safety briefing. We'll spend around 2 hours on the water and stop for a snack along the way.
My husband, Andrew and I run one of the country's leading adventure companies, Gravity Adventures. We mostly offer wilderness rafting trips in the Northern Cape but we also love to explore our back yard with guests. Cape Town has so much to offer but seeing the city from the ocean gives a whole different perspective! We are also an APA accredited training provider and offer courses and assessments to sea kayak guides from all over. Although one or both of us often hosts the experience, we also use a small team of co-hosts, including Camdyn Kellett (our son and resident bird expert), Tristan Bernstein and Aaron Topliss, both local lifeguards and river guides, and Tayan Britz, lifeguard, river guide and qualified paramedic.
Something sweet to provide some energy. Please bring your own water bottle as we do not provide bottled water.
