What you'll do
The St Lawrence Market and the surrounding Old Town Toronto neighbourhood is a must-visit, and we'll introduce you to some of our favourite places to eat and drink while delving into the idea of "Canadian Food". At each place we stop, you'll try something most Canadians are familiar with, but might not know the history behind. Through this experience you'll not only taste some great things and see a beautiful part of Toronto, you'll get to know Canada better through its cuisine! Poutine, peameal bacon, butter tarts, Montreal-style bagels, a taste of maple, and more await!
My friends Tim, Jordan, Sam, and I have been explaining Canadian food and drink to others professionally as tour guides for years. Tim studied event management in college, Jordan teaches at that same college, Sam is a true foodie, and I'm a know-it-all who loves to eat great food and feed people. We are regulars in the St Lawrence Market and know many of the vendors. We're excited to share the treasures of the neighbourhood with our guests and to answer the question they often ask us: "What exactly IS Canadian food?

Where you'll be
We will visit the iconic St Lawrence Market and some of our favourite vendors inside, as well as some great places to eat and drink outside the market in the surrounding neighbourhood. The focus of this experience isn't haute cuisine, but eating like a local. One stop will be small (but locally famous) deli run by a family who immigrated to Canada from Lebanon, and another will be a local dive to dig into poutine!
