Depending upon the season we'll forage for wild plants, berries, and/or mushrooms and then create and share a meal together using the ingredients we've garnered to supplement other local ingredients which I'll have pre-assembled.

Your host

I am a lifelong Alaskan, retired biologist, naturalist, avid hunter-gatherer and accomplished home cook. I have worked, explored, and adventured widely in Alaska and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the natural history and edible berries, plants and mushrooms of Southeast Alaska.

Where you'll be

In the spring time we'll pick fiddlehead ferns, devils club buds, and twisted stalk on the Mendenhall River Trail. In mid summer we'll pick wild blueberries at Eaglecrest ski area. In the fall we'll pick wild winter chanterelle mushrooms at an undisclosed location.
