What we’ll do

We will meet up at a trailhead that has been chosen as the best wildlife viewing for that day. As we walk, we will discuss the life history and importance of these fish as we look for them in the creeks. The particular wildlife that we see on our hike will be subject to weather conditions, and the season. Depending on the conditions, we may find adult Coho Salmon or Steelhead Trout actively…

What else you should know

Our walk is (light) Rain or shine! Too much rain will make it harder to find the fish. I will be watching the weather before our hike and let you know the forecast.

What I’ll provide

Snacks
I'll bring some local crafted chocolate to snack on!
Drinks
I'll heat some water for a cup of tea at one of our stops.

What to bring

Season appropriate clothing that can get damp or possibly wet
Trail type shoes designed for trails or mud than can get wet or dirty. Rubber boots are great, but not necessary.
Rain jacket if the weather calls for light rain
A small bag or backpack to carry a camera, water and a snack
Polarized glasses if you have them (best fish viewing), or a hat to reduce glare
Wear natural colors, please don't bring bright jackets

Where you'll be

We will be visiting a coastal stream that is home to various salmonids such as Salmon, Steelhead Trout, and Coastal Cutthroat Trout. These creeks are surrounded by various conifer and deciduous trees such as the Giant Redwood, Doug Fir, Big Leaf Maple, and Alder, among countless others.
