About your host

I’m Kris and I’ve been making books by hand since 1998, specializing in photo albums and journals. I currently run Scroll & Ink Bookbinding from my studio in an 1897 Old Louisville brick Victorian home. My husband and I are here from the Northwest, and we’ve been enjoying the fabulous Old Louisville lifestyle for several years now.

What we’ll do

You’ll get lots of one-on-one attention in this hands-on basic bookbinding workshop. Working with your hands and some basic tools, you'll learn new skills while making three books: a pamphlet, a concertina and a stab binding. You’ll leave with your finished books, project templates and a resource list! A bonus project will be available for any group that's particularly quick. These projects are…

What else you should know

The studio is on the 3rd floor of a private residence -- that's a lot of stairs! Also, this is a standing workshop so please wear comfortable shoes. You may bring a coffee or tea with a lid.

What I’ll provide

Snacks
There will be a small, no-mess munchie, but your hands will be busy in class so you might want to eat before the workshop.
Drinks
Bottled water
