What you'll do
Lunch class (10:30 - 14:00) ￥6,250 We will make 1 serving of standard sushi set including local fresh seafood. Miso soup and Green tea will be served. Dinner class (16:30 - 20:00)￥10,000 we will make 1 serving of deluxe sushi set including fresh seafood. You can enjoy a full set of sushi dinner. Drinks will be served including Sake(rice wine). Ingredients differ depending on the day. You’ll be welcomed into my home kitchen. At first, we will make sushi rice, vinegared rice. I will teach you how to make sushi rice correctly and recipe. And we will practice how to make a rectangular shape rice ball by hand. Nigiri sushi: The trickiest part of making nigiri is making a rectangular shape rice ball softly and quickly using the technique. We will practice the technique which is inherited for many years in my restaurant. And then I’ll teach you how to slice the ingredients so that it looks thick and delicious for nigiri sushi. Roll sushi: We will also practice how to take a sheet of nori (seaweed), put sushi rice and ingredients on it and then roll it all into a perfect cylinder using a bamboo mat. Finally, you will make the one serving of sushi set using real ingredients. By the end of the lesson, you’ll be able to apply the techniques you learned to make sushi in your own kitchen. In the end, we will eat the sushi set you made and miso soup.
My family has owned and run a sushi restaurant in Asakusa since 1901. I’m the restaurant’s third sushi chef, and I’m committed to continuing the tradition of authentic Edomae (Tokyo-style) sushi. Developed in the early 1800s by a chef in Edo (present-day Tokyo), the technique centers around bite-sized servings formed by hand.

Where you'll be
At first we will go to a grocery store near my house and I will explain you what ingredients we need for making sushi. We’ll practice the technique of sushi-making at my home in Asakusa. This older neighborhood has maintained a traditional atmosphere. The main attraction, Sensoji, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple, is a short walk away. After the workshop, you can stroll the temple grounds and the street-side parks.

Up to 4 guests aged 15 and up can attend.
You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
