What you'll do

Join me, Oisin Costello, Dublin native at the gates to Stephen's Green, top of Grafton Street where bullet holes remain from 1916 crossfire. We'll pass Royal College of Surgeons similarly pockmarked from 1916, the Gaiety Theatre, built in 1876, before stopping at the new Luke Kelly memorial for some songs and stories. Luke was hugely beloved in Ireland though the 60s and 70s sharing the role of lead singer at The Dubliners with Ronnie Drew. We'll stop by Neary's, McDaids, and Bruxelles, some of Dublins oldest pubs, and hear The Auld Triangle, Raglan Road songs telling the story of Irish writers Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh. And on to Grafton Streets, 1840's Bewley's cafe, owned by Quaker, Joseph Bewley, someone truly helpful to the Irish during the famine—and hear from Oscar Wilde's mother's famine poem. We'll go to the HQ of Feis Ceoil, a musicianship competition formed during the 1880's 'Gaelic Revival', Count John McCormack famous Irish American tenor in the 1920s-40s won in 1903, James Joyce took part in 1904! Stop off for Irish whiskey tasting!!! Passing the Shelbourne Hotel, where the signatories sat for the framing of the Irish Republic in 1922 we'll visit O'Donoghue's pub, home of The Dubliners, world-renowned trad Irish music group. Please contact me if you've any queries.

Oisin

I am a Dubliner, born and bred, I have lived here all my life. My family are Dublin natives, my grandfather was a boy soprano in the Palestrina choir in 1920s, growing up a few doors from James Joyce's house on Fontenoy Street. I am an opera trained singer and have been staging Irish musical history events (including Living Dublin 1916 for RTE) since 2013. Its been said of the Irish, we'll sing at the drop of a hat but you can't make us talk! We will be doing both as we make our way through Dublin streets hearing local and national history with some of the most iconic Dublin songs that memorialise it! We will also be stopping off for an Irish whiskey tasting and finish in one of Dublins most iconic Irish music pubs, so what are you waiting for, see you soon!
