What you'll do

Insider's look at the Farmer's Market

First, we'll grab a cup of coffee/tea at my favorite coffee stall at the farmer's market - it's the quintessential Italian welcome! Then, I'll show you around the city's world-famous Ferry Building and its highly regarded farmers' market where I've been selling pasta for the past two years.

We'll weave through the market, I'll introduce you to my friends and favorite purveyors, we'll sample their great artisanal items and get to know in depth what makes the Ferry Building such a world-class gourmet destination. Moreover, we'll attend a cooking demonstration hosted by CUESA and get lunch all together.
The goal is to keep your palate high and to appreciate the values embodied by the Ferry Building market and vendors.

I ditched a career in bioscience to pursue my passion with food. I'm one of the two founders of Baia Pasta, a local manufacturer of organic artisanal pasta that Bon Appétit Magazine says rivals the best pasta in Italy. Go figure... :P

It was great learning a ton of new things about an already familiar place. Appreciated Dario's passion for food and advocacy for the equally passionate producers in the market.

We had a really fantastic morning exploring the market with an insider. We got to nibble along the way with samples of farm-fresh goods.

We really enjoyed meeting Dario and he did a great job giving us the "insider's tour" of the Farmer's Market. He seemed to know everyone and we really had a great day. Grazie Dario!

Dario shared his inspiring experiences and thoughts about Baia Pasta and the lovely farmers' market. It was amazing to see how one loves food in a professional way and how one tries hard to achieve a balance between one's belief and a sustainable business. So glad I booked this.

Dario was gregarious, fun, and extremely knowledgeable. What will strike you at first is how much energy & excitement Dario brings. It's powerful and contagious! I left feeling knowledgable about what makes specific vendors so special at the SF ferry farmer's market, how to find quality & value at the market and tons of little known secrets. We hopped over to Oakland on the Ferry and Dario shows you his space, his philosophy to pasta making and you make lunch together. Really awesome, intimate and fun. Highly recommend this to anyone.

If you love food, going to farmer's markets, farm to table dining, and learning from an amazing, passionate pasta maker...you will LOVE this experience. I don't want to spill the beans on this incredible day, but my top moments include 1. walking through the Farmer's Market like a boss - Dario knows so many vendors and he really makes you feel welcomed as you meet different farmers and purveyors (I now know which vendors to go to when I go to the farmer's market!), 2. learning about what's in season and sustainable eating - Dario puts farming and farmer's markets into perspective, I appreciated his knowledge and experience, it was eye opening 3. seeing his pasta shop and hearing about his career transition into pasta making - what an incredible story and so inspiring, 4. eating pasta made by Dario was de-li-cious! Not only did we pick out the items from the farmer's market, he picks the perfect pasta (and wine :D) to go with it. All in all, I highly recommend this experience. It's a little pricier than others, but there are many treats throughout the day and it's totally worth it! Let's just say when I left, I was extremely full, smiling, and excited to take my learnings home with me!
