What you'll do

Experience the african side of the City !

Let's explore the incredible neighborhood of La Goutte d'Or, the place for African fashion. Crossroads of the African fashion, and food, I suggest you go to meet craftsmen, tailors and designers from Africa - many of which have been featured in top African fashion blogs and magazines!

We’ll chat a bit about about Parisian-African culture over a cup of Moroccan tea.

My name is Jacqueline but please call me Yaqui. I am a writer and founder of Little Africa, a cultural and travel guide exploring the African side of Paris. I am also the author of the book City guide of Africa in Paris.

I created this tour 4 years ago in order to change people minds about this neighborhood, and help shops around there to also benefit from thousands of tourists who stop by the 18th district every day to go see Montmartre and have no idea about the African side of the district.

This was an incredible tour and it was so cool to see a different side of Paris. We did the tour a few days before New Years so a lot of the stores were closed but the final shop that was open was my absolute favorite. Thank you for taking the time out to show us around. We had a blast!

Yaqui is very knowledgeable and knows her city very well. She has a relationship with the local designers so visiting them was a treat of the tour. Definitely something fun to do in the warmer months as it's an outside tour.

Jacqui's African Fashion tour takes you through an over looked part of Parisian history in the 18th. Jacqui is extremely knowledgeable and well qualified to run this tour. She gave us the history of the gout d'or district as well provided personal anecdotes that really made me feel like she was invested in the history and highlight of the area as well as the merchants and artisans in the area. I am personally interested in seeking out the African side of Paris with an eye on African Fashion and I really learned and discovered things I did not know and probably would have overlooked on my own. that's what makes this tour invaluable. If you love Fashion and are interested in African contributions to Fashion and Paris, do take this tour! you wont regret it

I walked through this area of Paris on my own one day and then another day went on the tour. It was two totally different experiences which gave insight and a kind of magic to the culture. It was colorful and fascinating!

We had a wonderful experience. Little Africa has such a rich cultural history. Yaqui was a splendid guide. She interspersed her personal stories with history and connections to up and coming fashion designers. Definitely take this tour for the educational and cultural aspect plus interaction with a wonderful guide.

Knowledgeable and expert storyteller! Yaqui was gracious enough to meet at a time that was more convenient after the weather cleared. She was able to point out key places of interest and provided great history of the area. It was informative and appealed to my interest in fashion. We had great conversation and introduced me to really great local merchants and unique finds!
