What you'll do

Once you book your experience, we'll chat to determine if more emphasis will be placed on photography or yoga. I'm also open to a portrait session on the Lake which we can discuss in advance. Once we meet, we'll drive separately to a location on the Lake where a short hike will take us down to the shoreline. We'll practice using light to illuminate a scene, the power of reflections, learn the subtle difference perspective makes to create dramatic images, and how to compose an image using the rule of thirds, nines and spirals. Please understand the settings on your camera, aperture mode is fine, but you have the most control over your capture in manual. A wide angle lens and a tripod will afford you the best results. We'll stay a little past sunset just in case it's one of those magical evenings where the sky lights up after the sun dips below the horizon, returning with once in a lifetime images. For those who would rather immerse into the moment, we'll practice a restorative yoga sequence as the sun sets, or sit quietly with a singing bowl and allow ourselves the space to settle into stillness.

Dotty

I am an award winning local photographer who's been capturing beautiful images from the trails around Lake Tahoe since I moved here from Florida in 2006. I'm also a 200 hour E-RYT yoga instructor teaching vinyasa and yin yoga and an avid hiker. I am passionate about exploring off the grid into the beauty of nature where the air is crisp and sweet, meditating on the tops of mountains, and getting my feet wet in Tahoe. I've held numerous photography workshops, teaching the basic skills needed to capture the beauty of the world with a camera.

Where you'll be

Our location will be within 20 miles round trip from Incline Village, on the Northeast or Northwest Shore. The road around the lake, Highway 28, is a two lane road, and parking can be challenging unless you know the area. Bonsai Rock is one of our most photographed locations, but there are many others which are just as beautiful.
