If I could give this workshop 100 stars, I would. What a special and joy-filled experience. Ana and her family welcomed us into their home with such warmth (the grandparents were so sweet too!). It was a treat to learn about their craft and what it means to their family and community, while also getting actual hands-on experience with the tools. We dove deep into a variety of natural dyes, and got to take home our own beautiful skeins, including one dyed w/ cochineal! Ana and Juan are not only masters of their craft, but also really great (and fun!) teachers (we were laughing ~50% of the time). We toured their garden, saw plants used for dyeing, and sampled some of their incredible mezcal. Even on a hot day, the workshop space stayed cool and shaded, with plenty of water to stay hydrated. Ask about their aunt and uncle’s candle-making business too - we visited after and it was also magical! Truly an unforgettable and inspiring day. We’ll 100% do this again next time we’re in Oaxaca.
