About your host

I've been the Director of Development, Marketing & PR at Baltimore Humane Society for 8+ years. I'm so proud to be a part of our no-kill shelter and the work that we do. I'm the person who gives in-depth tours of our shelter that include history and current programs. Take one of my tours and you'll quickly learn that any animals who land here are very lucky!

What we’ll do

Experience what it takes to be an animal caretaker at a no-kill animal shelter. Glamour work, it's not. But rewarding, absolutely. You'll be helping shelter staff with assorted daily chores necessary to keep the animals staying with us well fed and cared for. Each morning the chores begin and last for a few hours. You'll be helping to clean dog kennels, clean cat cages, prepare meals, launder…

What else you should know

Allergies to cats? You might find it a bit difficult to volunteer in many areas. Be sure to let us know and we'll try and keep your work limited to the dog kennel.

What I’ll provide

Equipment
All equipment needed for cleaning and socialization of the pets.

What to bring

Closed toe shoes
Bring rain boots or tall boots since you'll probably be getting a bit wet if working in the dog kennel.
Wear clothes you're OK getting dirty and potentially bleached.
