What you'll do

We’ll go to the Tropical Cloud Forest in the mountains of Heredia on a Level 4** hike that features two beautiful waterfalls and some amazing landscapes. We’ll meet in the city center and drive 11 kilometers (7 miles) to a cozy village from where we reach a private reserve. We’ll walk for about 3 hours through a secondary cloud-forests crossing creeks on footbridges surrounded by exuberant vegetation and fauna! We’ll visit two waterfalls, and if you are up for it, we’ll take a dip in the pure-chill mountain water! On the trails, it’s common to find recent tracks of Tapirs and small felines, and to see birds of all kinds. Heading back to Heredia city we’ll enjoy some local flavors in a typical lunch. Notice: ** Level 4:  It means "moderate hike with good inclines, a little stamina is required, you need to stay hydrated. Good for some kids and teens." ** Facts: This is a 4 kilometer distance with a 160 meters altitude gain. (2.5 miles in 525 feet altitude gain). Consider that the mountain air is thinner and temperature is cool. There are no paved sections or handrails along the hike. This experience is completed in 4 hours. ** Please do not sign if yo are a beginner.

I am an avid hiker-runner. I manage "Costa Rica es gente", a rural community tourism initiative. Trekking is part of my life since forever, so I decided to work with nature in a deeper way. I lead hikes around Costa Rica getting to know my country from a natural perspective and sharing wildlife and landscapes with others.

Where you'll be

Tapir Mountain is a cloud-forest plenty of water streams, young oaks, wild birds, small mammals, butterflies, mushrooms, hummingbirds and ferns. We cross the farmlands to breathe the thin mountain air and enjoy the magnificent forest. Once we reach the waterfall we may take the challenge of entering the chill water pool, or not! Back in town, a typical lunch is awaiting for you. You will love to find new trails and share them to your people.
