What you'll do
Christmas or Jul as we call it here in Denmark is often described as a magical time full of traditions. Unfortunately, our Christmas markets doesn’t really do Danish Christmas justice, so join me on this walking tour and discover the meaning behind Danish holiday traditions - both the new and the ancient ones dating all the way back to the Yuletide traditions of Viking times. As the Vikings would say though, no Christmas tour is complete without a festive feast, so be prepared to indulge in æbleskiver - kind of Christmas doughnuts, the best Gløgg which is not the same as mulled wine in town awarded by locals, gingerbread hearts and the notorious Julebryg that have a chapter for itself when it comes to Christmas traditions. Let’s make it festive by dancing around a Christmas tree to one of the hottest Danish Christmas songs, play pakke-spil which is a typical Danish Christmas game while we experience some of Copenhagen’s most charming and illustrative places of Danish Christmas hygge. Don’t worry, we will make sure you doesn’t get lost in translation.
Ho ho ho, we’re Sandra & Camilla and we're madly in love with the Danish holiday spirit. Combined, we have more than 52 years of first-hand experience with Danish Christmas! So you better believe, we have already baked our Christmas sweetmeats, compiled the dopest playlist for merry-making and hand-picked the local Christmas markets we want to attend this year. So stick it to Copenhagen’s cold and dark weather, put on your mittens, pull down your beanie, swaddle your scarf and come bundled up for some great Danish hygge with us - because as you may have heard hygge is not only just for Danes anymore (*wink, wink.).
