What you'll do

Create your art in a historic pottery jungle

Explore my family's kiln - Singapore's oldest bricks-built kiln (aka a dragon kiln). Over coffee and local pastries, I'll share the history of my family, the kiln, and how it functions, and teach you the basic techniques of both hand-building and using a potter's wheel. You can create anything you want: a mug, bowl, planter, etc. Finally, you'll glaze (color) your own art pieces!
Lastly, you are free to explore the pottery jungle.

Your creations will be ready in 3-4 weeks. Don’t worry if you are going back to your country, we can ship to you!

I grew up in this beautiful pottery jungle and, six years ago, decided to return to my family business. My grandpa started the business in 1965, we house Singapore’s oldest and surviving dragon kiln. I learnt most of my pottery skill from my family and studied in NAFA. I starting pottery 12 years ago, I’ve been teaching for the past 6 years and still loving what I am doing :) I created wares for cafe, restaurants and hotel! If you are curious about what’s a dragon kiln and explore Singapore’s one and only pottery jungle, I am happy to bring you around :)

Where you'll be

Welcome to my family's "pottery jungle," a humble business my grandfather started in 1965. We're located in western Singapore, which is accessible by Mrt and public bus. If you're free after the workshop, I can take you to my favorite part of the countryside to visit my friends' local farms!

My pottery experience with Stella was AMAZING and very memorable. My husband and I can't stop telling people about it because we had so much fun. Stella and her family were so warm and friendly, it really felt like we were invited into their home. She was very knowledgeable about pottery and patiently guided us throughout the way, even though we were so clueless and made so many silly mistakes. We were quite slow in our creations but she didn't push or hurry us, and the session was really flexible and held at our pace. It was a really chill and cool way to spend our Saturday and I love how the course was so well planned and covered just enough for us beginners to experience pottery. We have learnt so much and have a new level of love and respect for pottery now. Thank you! :)

Stella was lovely lady and over pouring passion for her family business as well as potter. I've learnt deeper history of Singapore pottery and how she continues to protect her 3rd generation business. Started with a history of her family business over some coffee and pastries, which were very yummy. Then off to actually making some pottery on the electronic wheel. Stella was very patience to teach me and I was really happy with my 2 master piece at the end! Definitely recommend to everyone who wants to see the other side of Singapore from very authentic local! Thanks Stella!

This is a MUST-DO experience in Singapore! You'll get to visit this peaceful and beautiful pottery jungle, learn about the inspiring story and history behind this dying tradition in Singapore (Dragon Kiln), and get your hands dirty to make your own pottery. My group was very lucky that our pottery will be fired in this historic Dragon Kiln which gets fired only three times a year! Last but not least, Stella is wonderful, deeply knowledgeable and passionate about her family business. Highly recommended!
