What you'll do

We will hike through and experience Golden Gate Park

We will have a relaxing hike among the plush landscape of Golden Gate Park. Keith Warwick, an environmental engineer and a San Francisco native will conduct this tour. Keith, a self described old hippie, will describe how the counterculture movement of the 1960s and early 1970s interacted with Golden Gate Park. Keith will share and describe nooks of the Park that are often overlooked. We will focus on multiple lakes. The tour will include adequate break time to site and enjoy the lavish gardens. We will discuss the history and formation of the Park. Whether the sun shines or the calming fog surrounds us we will be enriched by our walk. Keith hopes that you will be enthused about the Park and relaxed from being there.

I love San Francisco! I was born at Kaiser Hospital on Geary Street in 1955 and as an infant lived on Scott Street. My wife and I met and were married in San Francisco 34 years ago and then we lived very close to Golden Gate Park. Golden Gate Park is a lush and aesthetic area within my favorite city. I am a licensed civil and environmental engineer.

Where you'll be

We will walk-through several locations within the Park including 3 lakes. We will see open areas, wooded areas and historic buildings. One building that we will see is the Chinese Pavilion. The hike starts at the Northern Boundary of the Park in the Outer Richmond District. The Richmond District is a precious and laid back part of San Francisco. We will meet at the Southeast corner of the intersection of 25th and Fulton.

Keith was a charming host! He escorted us on a peaceful nature walk through some beautiful areas of Golden Gate Park that we had not seen before. The walk was short and low impact, it was very easy to complete the calming tour of the lakes. We had limited time so it was a nice break on a gorgeous San Francisco afternoon, strolling through the eucalyptus and taking in the beauty of waterfalls and duck filled lakes.

Keith was really knowledgeable and very nice. He showed us a couple of out of the way spots in the park and explained some of its history. This was a nice, relaxing walk but could have been a little longer with more detailed stories from the park’s history.

Keith gives a nice overview of the park while giving the history of San Francisco. I highly recommend.
