What you'll do
Chef Patty will regale you with her personal stories, growing up in a traditional Chinese and Taiwanese family, opening her first famiily restaurant, and how the traditions were passed down from her mother and grandmother. Next, we'll explore Taiwan, through its street food culture, sampling a series of popular street food tapas. The skillset section starts out with basic rolling of the skins, or wrappers. Three rounds of dumplings will go over 5-6 shapes, and 3 distinct stuffings: pork and ginger, pork soup dumplings, and vegan. Each round has a break for stuffing the students, too! The competition is fierce, and there will be awards and trivia prizes throughout the event. If you happen to be the first to mention a "trigger word" in the story section, you will win a coveted "Make Way for Dumplings" tee shirt! Finally, the closing ceremony, where we encourage students to take home left-overs (if there are any!)

Chef Patty Chen seeks to impart her passion for dumpling cooking upon each and every one of the class participants. She honors her family’s heritage and her own personal memories by carefully yet informally instructing students in the art of dumpling making. Here you will learn everything you need to know about dumpling making, from constructing the skin to creating the fillings to learning the five traditional folding and crimping techniques!

Dumpling school 001 begins the moment you walk into the lobby of the Windsor Inn. Chef Marco welcomes you to the Windsor Guesthouse., and prepares you for battle. Suit up, it's gonna get messy! Each student is empowered with their own workstation with tools, apron and hat. A light spread of tapas, tea and snacks is waiting on arrival. Chef Patty will be busy preparing the special sauces, and will introduce herself to the class

If you have gluten sensitivity, we do not offer gluten free options, at this time. Currently we offer the class with pork filling and vegetarian filling. Custom fillings are possible for lg groups. If you would like to bring a bottle of wine or some beer, it is BYO.
