What you'll do

We will share with you a cooking class where you will learn the techniques and secrets of the famous Empanadas de Pino, a special recipe from our beloved and remembered grandmother. You will travel to the past and live a unique gastronomic experience in a beautiful heritage house from the 40s designed by the renowned architect Luciano Kuczewski, nicknamed by many as the Chilean Gaudi. Meet us at Virginia Opazo, a residential complex declared a Typical Zone and National Monument since 1992, and enjoy these delicious dishes that are part of Chilean tradition and culture. We will talk about the ingredients that make it up: the dough, the filling or pine (meat, onion, raisins, olives and egg) and the famous Chilean pebre (tomato, onion and coriander). We will cook the ingredients of the empanada, and we will teach you how to organize the elements to fill them, close them and make the emblematic shapes. We will work the dough, cut it and make the classic shapes, then we will heat the oven to the right temperature and bake it until it is golden. We will also make the delicious pebre that accompanies them, to finally sit at the table to taste the traditional Chilean Pine Empanada with Pebre.

My sister, who is a chef and journalist, and I like to know the culture of each country through its aromas and flavors. Together we have held events and tastings for gustatory analysis of Chilean products, and we continue to explore the origins of Chilean cuisine. For us, empanadas very well represent the Chilean identity and preparing it brings us a little closer to the traditions of this country. The idea is to enjoy yourself by cooking, sharing, learning the secrets of the recipe, and tasting a bit of Chile with every bite.
