I have a tourism agency focused on the residents of Rio de Janeiro, I am a tour guide and a tourism teacher. Almost a wonder-woman, but summing up all this I'm in love with the world of tourism.

I am also one of the leaders of the Airbnb Host Community in Rio de Janeiro and was invited to travel to San Francisco to talk about my experience on the platform.

I love sharing knowledge and I want to share more about this side of the story that many people do not tell;)

This experience can also be performed by Luana and Adriana. Know more about them by reading below.

Gaby’s little Africa experience tour was very informative. We learnt about the Brazilian history from an economic perspective and the roles Africans in the diaspora played in it. This was followed by a tour of important sites in the little Africa area of Rio. Gabby was very knowledgeable and personable. She explained the origin of several words such as favela, samba, etc., and foods. Also she showed us many hills and their significance to black culture. Will definitely recommend this tour to anyone trying to gain deeper knowledge of the African experience in Brazil.

The Little Africa Tour with Gaby was the highlight of my visit to Rio. We had a brief exposure to some of the sites in Little Africa as part of a city tour prior to our time with Gaby. Gaby brought the experience at these sites to life, with information that we did not have in the prior tour, with stories and historical details that were both informative and entertaining. She shared details of her personal experiences giving us insight into the day to day living reality of a person of African descent in Rio. Gaby discussed current political events in Rio and Brazil from the perspective of an Afro-Brazilian. She answered our questions about food, religion, healthcare and many others providing perspective from her unique insight. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio.

Luana was a great tour guide! Very knowledgable, very passionate, very friendly! Absolutely loved our tour and time with her. Highly recommend this tour. I would also recommend doing it early in your visit. We did it on our last day and would love to have done some of the things shared during the tour had we done it when we arrived.

I really enjoyed this tour! I felt like I gained a better contextual understanding of Rio’s history (particularly Black history) and learned about historical monuments that I wouldn’t have otherwise learned about. Luana was also a wonderful and knowledgeable host. Overall great tour and I highly recommend it for future guest.
