About your host

Born & raised in Vancouver and a clockmaker by trade, I was commissioned by the City of Vancouver to design and build the Gastown Steam clock in 1977. I have since built over 150 customized clocks for display in cities as diverse as Japan, Australia, and the USA.

What we’ll do

We'll meet at the Revel Room Restaurant in Gastown. I will give a slideshow presentation and talk detailing the history, design, and building of the iconic Gastown Steam Clock. From there, we will take a 10 minute walk to the clock to see the it in action, take photographs, and ask questions. After the clock tour we will return to the Revel Room for lunch, drinks, music and conversation.

Camera is recommended, and raincoat or umbrella if weather is poor

Where you'll be

We will be in the heart of Gastown at the famous Revel Room Supper Club which is famous for its southern style hospitality, boogie piano happy hour, and nightly live music shows. From there we will take a short walking tour to Gastown's iconic steam clock with horologist Ray Saunders, who designed and built the clock. We will then return to the Revel Room for lunch, music, and conversation.
