What you'll do
After breakfast we will go out into the amazing Italian countryside, to paint in the open air. The Italian landscape and lighting conditions are optimal for the studying of painting from observation. It is no wonder therefore that the most famous visual artists came from Italy. Painting relates to observation like Music relates to listening. It is therefore important that you learn to observe! In the course of a workshop, we will cover the essentials of painting, such as drawing, composition and color theory. You will learn to see things like a painter and learn the secrets of painterly observation, hands-on with oil colors. Our painting day is divided into two 3 hours sessions, with a break at noon, for crit. Normally we paint two paintings per day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Depending on the temperature, it is usually better to begin the second session at around 2:00 PM. IMPORTANT: Workshops can be held on other dates, even if they are not on the schedule. Please contact me to inquire about availability.
My name is Amir, a professional painter based in Vicchio, Firenze, the birth place of Giotto and Fra Angelico. I have dedicated the past 25 years to painting. I have been teaching painting on a professional level for the past 15 years. During the years it was my pleasure to work with hundreds of students and I have gained a lot of experience, in conveying the knowledge that I have aquired. I have held several painting workshops in Italy in the past years. Usually these were meant for painters, but now we decided to offer these unique experiences to the wider public of art lovers.
