About your host

I am a black hole hunter and a data scientist. I finished my PhD at The University of Sydney in 2017, which focused on a search for a rare type of black holes. For this search I used the data from X-ray space telescopes, Chandra and XMM-Newton. I have been sharing my passion for astronomy with others as a guide at Sydney Observatory for almost 8 years, and love traveling to dark locations to look…

What we’ll do

You'll learn about the history of astronomy (in Sydney and Australia) whilst walking through the beautiful streets of The Rocks, Millers Point and Dawes Point. There is one astronomy guide for a group of up to 20 people. Your guide will set up a telescope in the second part of the tour to view stars (ONLY if the sky is clear) or faraway buildings (if cloudy). You will also be provided with a drink…

What else you should know

Wear walking shoes, bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen (in summer), a windproof jacket and a beanie (in winter), a water bottle and a camera. The tour will proceed in both rainy and cloudy weather.
