About your host

I was born in Kobe, Japan. I have been teaching the traditional Urasenke tea ceremony for the past 50 years. Urasenke tea ceremony was introduced more than 400 years ago by Rikyu. I would like to share my experience with people all over the world.

What we’ll do

You will experience a traditional Urasenke tea ceremony. First, you can wear a kimono if you like. Then you'll take part in the Urasenke tea ceremony. I will explain the procedures slowly and clearly, and you can ask questions along the way. Then we'll eat wagashi (Japanese sweets) with matcha. At the end, I'll give you a present—a keychain with your name written in Japanese kanji script.
