About your host

I am an accredited master of Nankin Tamasudare. I studied under Shirato Otohime, the head of Ginza Nankin Tamasudare Shirato Clan, for over 10 years. I became an acting master in 2013, and an accredited master in 2017. This mysterious and enjoyable performance is a lot of fun when you see it. There is fun to play further, and I would like to share it with my friends all over the world.

What we’ll do

Do you know what Nankin Tamasudare is? It’s a traditional type of street performance. The performer holds a special screen made from foot-long bamboo sticks that are loosely woven with twine. This is rapidly twisted, folded, and extended into various shapes while the performer chants an amusing poem describing the items to a distinctive rhythm. Where you'll be

This experience will take place in a typical Japanese apartment. A little rare tatami-matted room will welcome you. We'll enjoy talking with Japanese style tea and sweets during the performance.
