Riding bikes through Old Delhi was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It would be intimidating under any circumstances, but our two guides took great care to ensure our safety — starting very early before the onslaught of morning traffic, choosing calmer streets along the way, and positioning one guide in front and one in back at all times.
We still encountered some crowded crossings, but if you’re reasonably comfortable on a bike and lean toward more adventurous experiences, it’s well worth getting up early for. We thought it was an absolute hoot.
While there are some unique and informative stops throughout, it is not an in-depth history tour, but more of an immersion in the daily chaotic, yet strictly organized —everyone has their lane—streets of Old Delhi.
As we discovered after many unsuccessful searches later on, the ATM at the start of the street — where you meet the tour and pick up your bikes — was the only reliable one we found.
