What you'll do
Tired of touristy crowds? Join me on the dark side and explore a neighbourhood that's almost off the radar, Sai Wan Ho, where you'll never spot a tourist. This tour is all about the best of Asian food and you'll be savouring national dishes from different Asian countries (including Hong Kong of course)! This tour includes 5 different food stops, so come hungry :) The first stop we hit up is a hidden local market filled with street food stalls: - We'll watch the chef preparing Taiwanese savoury pancakes and learn more about the culture between Hong Kong and Taiwan - Skip the crazy line and taste some seriously delicious Hainanese chicken rice - Meet the owner of a local dessert shop, who took over his dad's family business business that's been running since the 50s. - Learn the street food culture and how hawkers run for their lives from the police After that, we'll hit up Causeway Bay - You'll learn more about the culture of Hong Kong, how the living condition is here (HK is the most expensive city to live in in the world!), and what's going on with the protests in town these days. - Finish off the night with a gigantic Japanese shaved ice at our favourite little shop.
I'm a food enthusiast who run an indie food & cultural tour company called Hong Kong Food Crawlers & I've been featured on Travel Man with Jon Hamm. You can find out more about what I do on Instagram @hkfoodcrawlers. I use food as a medium to share Hong Kong's history and culture one tour at a time. Hong Kong runs deep in my blood! I love sharing my unique take on the difference between Chinese & Western culture based on my experience growing up in Hong Kong and studying abroad in Canada. Other experiences I offer: - Central Food & Cultural Crawl - Hidden Gems & Open-Air Seafood Feast
