What you'll do

This is appox. a 35 km ride, beginning on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. We will proceed through the centre of the city, climbing into the hills immediately surrounding the city, and descending back into the centre on the other edge of town. Nice is located within a semi-circle of hills, which make up an important part of the character of the city. The history of Nice intimately intertwines the sea and the hills.
With this tour you will be getting away from the dense and sometimes chaotic traffic of the city centre and the coast, to allow you to get a different perspective (a « bird’s eye view ») of Nice. We will visit some amazing places that you might not otherwise know about or see - and you can do it all on a bike! We will climb a bit (steady but not steep - about 5/6 km); we will get onto a relatively flat section, winding road, from which we see the full lay of the land and sea; we will visit some fabulous spots on the heights; then we will descend back into Nice, visiting more gorgeous places; and end our tour with a delicious coffee/cold drink/patisserie/sandwich near the Port.

My name is Jillian, one of the co-founders of VeloGuide which was launched in October 2017 as a bold new initiative to connect the traveling cyclist with a bike and a guide all across the globe. I will be your virtual host and Adela will be your VeloGuide in Nice.

We understand that when visiting a city or some where new, getting out on a road bike ride can be overwhelming. Traffic, safe routes, fear of getting lost and finding a bike can make the idea a non-starter. Adela will take all the guesswork out of it and you will truly be able to #ridelikealocal. Her local knowledge and love of cycling make this experience unique!

Where you'll be

From the Promenade des Anglais, we’ll ride along the Baie des Anges then into the centre of Nice to the Russian Church. Then we’ll climb into the hills above the city & visit the Cascade de Gairaut. Time allowing, we’ll head to Falicon, a perched village with amazing views. Back in Nice, we'll stop at the Monastère & Arènes de Cimiez, where vestiges of the Roman settlement of Nice remain. We’ll finish with a beverage & snack along side the sea.

Adela took us on a wonderful tour of the “collines”, or hills, behind Nice. She knows the perfect roads to get out of the city center with quite roads and beautiful views. Along the way we visited several landmarks, everything from Russian castles to canal waterfalls to museums and parks. And of course a final stop for coffee and a snack on the promenade finished off the ride perfectly. Adela is an excellent guide with lots of local knowledge and a great conversationalist. Our group had a great time and I highly recommend her.

Merci
