What you'll do
Your experience starts as we meet and I introduce you to the history of the oldest New World wine country - think 1659. During the day we go where most only dream - into the cellars of iconic estates. We visit an oak maturation cellar, learn of the process of using oak and the role it plays in the wine aging process. We taste from maturation barrels and meet wine makers. We visit a sparkling wine cellar, learn how it is made and taste different styles of bubbly including one that is an international trophy winner. We visit a winery that is a consistent winner of the South African wineries "Green Award". We pair cheese and wine with the lady winemaker whose gold medals and trophies are the stuff of legend. We wrap up the day with a visit to a winery where the uniquely octagonal shaped cellar is one of only 4 in the world, the others being Chateau Lafitte, Opus One and Vergelegen. Here we taste 10 year old wines.
As a graduate of the Cape Wine Academy with 2 university degrees and a passion for the wines of the Cape, I will guide you on a unique indulgence of your palate through breathtaking wine country. I have visited and tasted wines in many of the wine producing countries of the world and have also had the rare opportunity to dine in the cellar of Chateau Lafitte in Bordeaux in the company of Baron Eric de Rothschild. During September 2018 I hosted very successful tasting of South African wines at the York Food and Wine Festival. This festival is the largest Food and Wine Festival in the north of England. Following this I received an open invitation to host further wine tastings in the UK and I once again showcased South African wines in the UK during June. Now back home I am once again hosting my Cape Wine experience.
