What you'll do

We meet and greet each other at the meeting point for our brief walk to an award winning bakery for a modern Swedish breakfast - you choose if you want a 'lite' or 'full' version. This is where we get to know each other and you will get a great introduction into modern Swedish society and culture.

After breakfast we visit two historical museums where we step back in time to when Stockholm was founded. We also follow in the footsteps of the royal families past and present - you can discover how their trials and tribulations correlate to the outcome of Swedish history.

Lunch will be taken at a little gem of a place in the Old Town. It is my favourite example of local farm produce done really well. I will let you judge for yourself. Vegetarian option is available. They have locally brewed craft beer or local non-alcoholic options.

The third part we go to the cool island of Södermalm. Walk to take pictures of the best views or check out another museum on how everyday life in Stockholm has changed over the centuries.

Majority of this experience is indoors to avoid the cold weather, there is no better way to spend a day in Stockholm then to experience history; culture; modern cuisine than with your own expert private guide.

As a guide for over a decade I have lived and breathed Northern European history; as a father of two girls in Sweden I have lived and breathed the modern Swedish social system; as a lover of food and drink I have lived and breathed Swedish culture and traditions. Welcome to Stockholm!

My Airbnb experiences are designed to be informative; light-hearted; entertaining but most importantly encourage interaction with me and other travellers.

I package together my knowledge of history + storytelling along with my personal experiences of growing up in Australia - to travelling and guiding around Europe - to raising a family in Sweden. It is a unique spin on history, culture and cuisine that guide books can not give.

Travelling is the people you meet. I love meeting new people hopefully I can meet you on one of my experiences.

Where you'll be

We have breakfast in a bakery along the water - goods baked fresh daily. AtThe Royal Armoury Museum. I will explain my extensive knowledge of the Royals that have shaped Sweden from a political perspective. In the Medieval Museum I will show you first hand how the everyday people lived in Middle Ages. Lunch is taken at a modern Swedish restaurant - better than meatballs! This tour is amazing, we spent nearly 5 hours together from breakfast to lunch. He showed me 3 different style museum in a row, help me know more about the Sweden history - especially famous peoples’ stories. Ryan is really a good expert in history and he has his passion about it. You will not regret it if you book the tour, and I think is quite worth the money due to Ryan ‘s good choice for breakfast and lunch restaurants + his nonstop talking 5 hours introductions hhhhhh

Excellent tour, excellent guide, excellent information. If you want to become familiar with the many Gustav’s in Stockholm’s monarchy, enjoy some sights and museums around Gamla Stan and enjoy bites from local, well appointed establishments, this is your tour. Don’t let the fact that Ryan is an Aussie deter you. After many years living in Sweden and delving into this country’s history, he clearly has detailed knowledge about and enjoys sharing the many twists and turns of Stockholm’s monarchy and how its government has evolved into its current state. It’s a day well spent.

An inspiring & cool day, combining history knowledge, great locations, nice chats & good jokes and tasty food. Ryan was a super host on all levels & it was fun to spend the day with him and the fellow participants. We were a group of four and it was nice that there was also always space for individual questions & stories. I definitely recommend this event to everyone who would like to get to know the city and people in a relaxed & very enjoyable way.
