What you'll do

We will meet at the Marina at Dolphin Quays in Poole and get everyone on board. After a quick safety briefing, we leave the mooring, getting the sails up as soon as we can. We head out of Poole Harbour, giving guests a chance to try the helm and harness the power of the wind. We will then be heading for Branksome, sailing past the beautiful resort town of Bournemouth, to our anchorage for the day, close to the flight path.

We'll enjoy our gourmet picnic lunch as the flying displays begin, far from the crowds, but close to the action. This year, the acrobatic team of Euro-fighters will be on show. There will also be many of the usual favourites to watch. We finish the day with a leisurely sail back to Poole, where the festivities continue in the evening, often including impressive fireworks displays.

After many years of sailing everything from tiny dinghy's to large yachts, in New Zealand, South Africa and extensively around the English Channel, I am delighted to welcome guests on board my beautiful yacht 'Sailing Grace'. I'm passionate about sharing my love of life on the water, and in-depth knowledge. Guests quickly get involved as I explain the principles and little tricks to make it easier, safer and more fun. I love sharing the exciting stories of wrecks & follies, ancient harbours and recent intrigues as we visit some of the hidden anchorages and landings in the area. Many guests have been infected by my enthusiasm for sailing after coming on board; some have even set off on adventures much further afield because of their experience on board 'Sailing Grace'.

Where you'll be

During the Air Festival flying displays, we will be anchored off Branksome beach, very close to the flight path of the airplanes involved. This gives us the best possibly location for watching the displays, away from the crowds on the beach but close to the action. After the display, our sail back into Poole gives fabulous views over the 'millionaires' row' of Sandbanks, and the lovely aspects of Poole Harbour, such as Brownsea Island.
