What you'll do

We will meet at the begining of a gorgeous beach near Durness with a sixth century ruined church nearby, proceed across the long clean fresh sands overlooking the bay which sweeps out west towards Cape Wrath and the north atlantic. Then we traverse at leisure over the headland through an amazing dune system [which is a site of special scientific interest - SSSI] with rare flowers [in summer], shells and some bones - those of Vikings in the past!

After a stop for refreshment and to gaze thoughtfuly seaward or just to gaze we can head back. Returning on a different path along the east shore in the meditative peace and tranquility of the dunes with possible sightings of seals, puffins [summer] and the odd badger set or fox den on the way. A smoother track will return us past an area specially for wildlife where we pause to listen prior to walking contentedly back to the start.

Meet your host, Donald

I have spent more than 20 years as a wildlife guide in the Northwest of Scotland which I have come to know very well. It is a fantastic, beautiful, remote area with a wealth of wildlife and dramatic scenery. I know some of the best places to visit for a first class experience as I have been monitoring and observing wildlife for many years.
