What you'll do

A Pictorial View of The Civil War in Charleston - from the historic Mills House Hotel, we return to ante-bellum Charleston in the Fall of 1860. We walk through the past, and into the history that still shows itself on Historic Charleston's streets. This unique tour is conducted with period photographs and maps.
This visit to the sites and locations that preceded Secession gives an honest view of actions and attitudes of those that governed and led, Charleston and South Carolina in the antebellum period, and through the war.
Along the route we revisit the way Charleston looked during, and immediately after the war. Each war-time picture comes with a story, or stories, of their own, contrasting that view with today's beautiful city. Our Private Tour includes an eye-opening visit to the Slave Mart Museum.
This scholarly tour will leave you with a better understanding of the multitude of factors that precipitated the firing of the first shot of the Civil War.
